Voluntary, market-driven solutions in the financial sector hinder financial regulation, even though researchers have repeatedly shown that these approaches have had little impact on stopping environmental destruction. We examine these voluntary initiatives and call on decision-makers at the Convention on Biological Diversity to remove the Taskforce for Nature-Related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) from the resource mobilization documents.
