Nigeria: Petroleum, Pollution and Poverty in the Niger Delta

This 2009 report by Amnesty International focuses on the consequences of oil pollution on the people of the Niger Delta in Nigeria. The oil industry has been operating in the Niger Delta for over 50 years. This has led to many human rights violations. Oil exploitation causes more poverty, more conflict and a deep sense of powerlessness among the people there.
